BARBARA A JOHNSON (nee Bottinelli)., age 90, of Kissimmee, died Saturday, May 28, 2022. Mrs. Johnson was born July 2, 1931 in East Cleveland, OH. Her parents were the late Lelio and Anna (nee Sylvester) Bottinelli. She grew up in East Cleveland, OH, moving to Ashtabula, OH in her teen years where she graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1949. That is where she met and then married, the late Ralph L Johnson on January 27, 1951, her loving husband of 51 years. Barbara was employed by Rockwell International in Ashtabula, OH where she was a research analyst involved in the testing and manufacturing of the original fiberglass body for the Corvette as well as the front ends for Mack semi-trucks. After their retirement, Barb and Ralph moved to reside in the Central Florida area. She was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Kissimmee and then Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Celebration, Florida. Barb was an avid crafter and loved needlepoint, painting, knitting, crocheting, sewing and puzzles. She was the founder of a knitting and crocheting group called the “Golden Hookers”. They made countless blankets, baby hats/blankets that were donated to local hospitals and other organizations to make sure babies had their head covered. She also made and donated rosaries that were sent to soldiers overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan, for which she received letters of thanks and commendation from Army Chaplin’s overseas for her work and dedication. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Johnson; She is survived by son, Jeffrey Johnson (Denice) of Macedonia, OH; daughter, Marie Blackwell (Bruce) of Orlando; Grandchildren Raeann Johnson of Cleveland Hts, OH; Blake Johnson of Durham, NC; Grant Johnson of Macedonia, OH; Amanda Barnette of Ashville NC; Ashley Blackwell of Orlando FL; Lyndsey Blackwell of St. Cloud, FL. Visiting hours will be Tuesday June 7, 2022, from 4-8 at Osceola Memory Gardens Cemetery, Funeral Home and Crematory, 1717 Old Boggy Creek Rd., Kissimmee Fl. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, June 8 at 11am at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Celebration, Florida with Rev. Trout of Corpus Christi Catholic Church officiating. Interment will follow in Osceola Memory Gardens Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Osceola Memory Gardens Cemetery, Funeral Home and Crematory, 1717 Old Boggy Creek Rd., Kissimmee 407-847-2494.
