Alice Dolyak

Alice J. Dolyak age 89 of Cheryl Lane, Kissimmee, Florida died Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Royal Gardens Assisted Living in St. Cloud. Alice was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on August 28, 1925, the only child of the late Paul Hornak and Mary (Hamrlick) Hornak. Alice married John W. Dolyak on her birthday August 28, 1946 and they were married 25 years. John passed away on October 5, 1971. Alice was active in the Elks Lodge in Ambridge, Pa. and the Elks Lodge #1873 in Kissimmee. She was also active in the St. Thomas Aquinas CCW in St. Cloud. Alice is survived by her two children, Son, John P. Dolyak and his wife Dolly (Shoop) Dolyak both of Kissimmee, and daughter, Mary Ellen (Dolyak) Pazula and her husband Bruce Pazula both of Ohio. One grandchild, David John Dolyak and his wife Sarah (Price) Dolyak both of Tampa, FL. Alice is survived by her nephew, Joseph Dolyak and his wife Georgia (Prentiss) Dolyak, and their children Chad and Jarod, niece, Barbara (Dolyak) Potter and Bob Potter, niece, Patricia (Dolyak) Kaleta and Robert Kaleta and their children, Jason and Bryan Kaleta. She is also survived by five Dolyak family nieces and nephews. Alice had a longtime companion in Florida, Ronald Freemont Shoop who passed away on March 31, 2013. Alice and Ron Shoop's relationship brought in his grown children Lisa Shoop, Donna (Shoop) Henninger, Diana (Shoop) Jordan and John Jordan, and Denise (Shoop) Willover and Dennis Willover. Their relationship resulted in eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. All of these grown Shoop-Children and grandchildren called her “Grandma Alice”. Although Alice was an only child with two children, she was the adopted Mother of many who called her “Mutz” which in Slovak is Mother. Diane Rich Lanky, Darlene and Ronnie Kolar, Karen Sanders, Joseph, Fatima, Debbie Wojciechowski, Margaret and Donald Desantis, Jennifer and Mark Harmonas and Joseph and Emily DeSantis. The beloved Kavouras family in the greater Cleveland area, Ohio must be remembered for she was their "Dear Aunt Alice." Visitation will be held Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 4 to 8 PM at Osceola Memory Gardens Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 9, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. There will be a private service held in Hopewell Township, Pennsylvania at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery Chapel. Alice will be laid to rest next to her husband John.
