Alex Volcy

Alex Ernest Volcy, 72 Alex Ernest Volcy, 72, of Poinciana, Florida after a long battle with illness, died peacefully in his home at 12:35am, Saturday, June 22nd 2019, surrounded by his loving family. Alex is survived by his wonderful wife Claire, their son Jude, daughter-in-law Simone, and grandson Elon. Alex Ernest Volcy was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti in 1946 to the parents of Joseph Marc Volcy and Georgette Eugene. He attended Jean-Marie-Robert de Lamemmais Primary school and later went on to pursue a degree from Alphonse Frank Etienne College. Alex, in his youth, expressed interests in both music and football (soccer). Music, as he soon realized, was his calling. Known for his beautiful voice, Alex became the lead vocalist for the band, Jazz Des Jeunes, an iconic group that helped pave the groundwork into the history of dance music in Haiti. Alex would later continue with his passion for music with other projects including the release of his solo independent album. Shortly after coming to the states in 1973, he married his longtime girlfriend, Claire Reme, and in 1975, welcomed son Jude Patrick Volcy into the world. Alex and Claire bought a home, settling in Jersey City, NJ. Alex last worked as an Out-Patient Coordinator at St. Michael’s Hospital located in Newark, NJ. He retired in 2009 and moved to Poinciana, FL with his wife, Claire, who still resides there. Sisters, Brothers and surviving family are: Joseph Frantz Volcy & Family, Marlene Volcy Jean Baptiste & Family, Claude Jacques, Claudette Volcy Darius, Sophie Philippe Ortega & Family, Joseph Marc Volcy & Family, Madam Ginette Volcy & children, Charles Volcy, Eveline Volcy Jerome & Family, Gerald Volcy & Family, Alix Volcy & Family, Jacques Volcy & Family, Yola Volcy & Family, Chantal Volcy Ceant, Magda Volcy, Pierre Richard Volcy, Erick Jolicoeur, Edwidge Jolicoeur, Myitho Dolce, Fabienne Jolicoeur, and a host of nephews, nieces, friends and associates. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 29th at 10:30am at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 3880 Pleasant Hill Rd. Kissimmee, FL 34746.
