Addy Lorna Wright-Gobert

Addys Lorna Gobert (nee Wright), age 58 of Orlando,FL, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 25, 2013. Born October 16, 1954 in Santiago de Cuba, Oriente; the first child of Vines Adela and Aston Henry Wright. Thoroughly enjoyed her life on the island, she attended William T. Sampson Elementary and High School and participated in many extracurricular activities such as Girl Scouts, Youth Fellowship, cheerleading, starring in school theater productions, and singing in the church choir. Her ever inquisitive mind for life and science, often found her looking through a telescope studying the stars and teaching her siblings about astronomy and the constellations or peering through a microscope at some interesting find – such as an insect or skin cell! It seems like she was frequently viewing life through a lens, as photography was a big hobby. She always had her camera ready to capture the “fun in the sun” island moments she enjoyed with her friends. She even learned to develop her own film and set up a photo studio in which she enlisted friends and family as models, and for an amateur she had captured some impressive photographic results! Addys also had a mischievous side. On a school trip to Washington D.C., she and a friend managed to sneak into the Vice President’s office and take a picture seated at his desk, complete with the official VP seal behind them! After graduating from High School she was employed as Chief Operator for International Telephone and Telegraph Company. In 1980, she moved to Orlando, FL and married Gilbert Clyde Gobert. They had one daughter, Naomi Adele Gobert. She began working as an entry level employee at SunBank in 1981, holding various positions and responsibilities. In 1993 she was awarded SunBank’s Sun Service Manager of the Year. When she retired from SunTrust in 2006, Addys was a Vice President Branch Operations Manager. Fun loving and with a sense of humor, Addys was known for her ready smile and knack for coming up with endearing nicknames for her family and friends. Many are still known by those nicknames. Also known for her love of gardening she enjoyed tending to her plants and flowers. Cooking also became a great passion that she freely shared with others. An avid reader and student of history, always up on current affairs. She was always ready for lively discussion of the issues. Her love of the arts and music were evident in her beautiful art pieces, vast musical collection, an organ that she taught herself to play. Mastering the guitar was her next goal. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and friend. Addys was profoundly caring and considerate. She tirelessly gave of her time, energy and goodwill. She was a devout Christian and an active member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Haines City. She is survived by sisters Miriam Margarita Wright of Orlando, Florencia Beatriz Wright of Brandon, and brother Aston Henry Wright,Jr of Melbourne.
