Juan Edgardo Falcon

Born in the small town of Humacao, PR, on April 27, 1970, Juan Edgardo Falcon began his journey through life. Edgar was the eldest son of Myriam Gerena and one of nine children born to Roberto Falcon. He came from humble beginnings and was born into a Christian home. Before he even existed, his mother prayed for him. From his youngest days he was told of the great Savior and assured of his need for him. As soon as he was able to know names, he knew the name of Jesus. As soon as he was able to grasp his need for forgiveness, he was told of the forgiver. As soon as he was enabled to express faith, he expressed faith in Jesus. He was destined with great purpose, for he was born to people belonging to Jesus. As he grew up he was a very active child. Nothing came more natural to Edgar, than his love for sports. He began playing baseball at the age of 7 up until his early teenage years. He won various championships and was recognized numerous times for his athletic abilities, including most valuable player. Edgar, after leaving home at age 19, decided to move to the state of Maryland to be with his older half siblings. His zeal and energy for life took him on a new journey of exploration and self-discovery. It was here where he became self-reliant and self made. He developed into a hardworking individual, strengthening his personal motto: “Do you no matter what”. Some might say that sounds like a selfish man, but instead it was the total opposite! He put others first before himself. He lent a helping hand whenever necessary and always made sure those around him were good. Edgar relished the good things in life including music, travel, food, friends and family. While he never cultivated the intense relationship of a best buddy, or hunt or fish or play poker with the boys, the number of people who called my brother friend was legion. Summing up Edgar’s life, I keep coming back to one thought. Never will you meet a man who more faithfully lived his values. In the loving way that Edgar raised his daughters and selflessly served his wife, we catch a glimpse of the love that the heavenly father has for his children. He was entirely devoted, gracious and kind. His life was consumed with his family and there was no mistaking, his love was relentless. Edgar was an admirable individual. He was excellent father, loving husband, fun uncle, caring brother, and will be remembered mostly by his funny and charismatic personality. He was a joy to be around and always caused amusement with his infectious laughter. Edgar was strong in body, in spirit, and in commitment. In recent years he found the best way to combine two of his passions, baseball and family. Tatyana and Adryana became softball players and he was their #1 fan. He never missed a practice, never missed a game, and affectionately became the empire outside the fence on every team the girls played in. The girls developed into confident athletes and thrived in the sport due to his dedication and passion for the game. He always pushed his girls to be better, do better, and never give up! His support meant the world to the girls and there was nothing he wouldn’t do to see his girls smile. My brother was responsible to the very end. My brother provided a good home for his wife and daughters. They never lacked a thing and always had in abundance. He was a blessed man, with many who loved him. I don’t think I ever saw my brother shed a tear. He remained a strong pillar because he knew it was his job to be the rock for others to lean on. I will cherish the beautiful memories we share. He was more than a brother to me, he became the first fatherly figure in my life, and I guess that’s where he got the practice in becoming a great dad. I will miss him dearly, but I know this is not a goodbye, but instead, I’ll see you later… We may be mourning the loss of a beloved human being, but today I choose to honor his legacy and celebrate the joy that he brought into our lives.
