Arline Louise Wilkinson

ORLANDO ? Arline L. Wilkinson, 91, of 1636 Wood Violet Drive, died Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Osceola Regional Hospital. She was born in Kingston, Penn. June 20th 1918, the daughter of Bertha Agnes Stiner and Clarence Cartwright James. She moved to Yarmouth, Maine at a young age and attended North Yarmouth Academy. She then furthered her education at the Maine General Hospital of Nursing to become a Registered Nurse in Portland. While attending school she worked for her family?s business, Jimmy?s Restaurant on Commercial Street, where she met the Love of her life, Francis X. Wilkinson, whom she married in 1941. After graduating she was a Private Nurse for many prominent families in the Greater Portland Area. Francis (Fritz) joined the Navy and they were separated by the WW11, during which she purchased their first home in So. Portland, where they raised their family until they could build their dream home in Falmouth in 1954.After the birth of her two children she was a stay at home Mom until they were in school full time. She then resumed her Nursing Career at the Osteopathic Hospital in Portland for the next 16 years. Nursing was a passion of hers. She belonged to the 1918 Club, North Yarmouth Academy Alumni and the Alumni Association of the Osteopathic Hospital of Maine. She enjoyed tending her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens and canning the harvest she produced for her family. She also made their clothes, winning many sewing contests. She was a wonderful cook and an avid book reader, a talented artist who participated in several art shows at St. Josephs. She always had a love of music and enjoyed playing the piano and had an extraordinary singing voice. She loved dancing and once won a Jitterbug Contest when she was pregnant with her first born. Entertaining with family and friends was always a high point in her life. Gathering her siblings together on Saturday nights to play cards and laugh. Every summer she hosted Girl?s Weekend for her fellow Nurses from the Osteopathic Hospital up to the Family camp in Casco, Cup-a-Java. She and her husband traveled extensively around the world and collected memorabilia. They also enjoyed cruising Casco Bay in their boat the "Barcadi & Tonic" which they launched from Falmouth Town Landing and Spring Point Marina, where she and her family spent many hours enjoying the beaches. She will be remembered for her musical laugh and always carrying herself as a ?Lady? in every situation. She will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Fritz in 1985, her br other Clarence, and her two sisters, Faith & Hopie. She is survived by a sister Charity Dunham of Eagle River, AK. a son Mark F. Wilkinson and Cathy of Mechanic Falls, ME. a daughter Margo R. Hawkes and her husband Walter of Orlando, FL. Two Grandchildren, Satoria S. Pelton Angulo of Falmouth, ME., Justice F. W. Pelton of Tacoma, WA. and six great-grandchildren, Anna, Justice, Brosnan, Arcadian, Dominick & Anthony and several nieces & nephews.
