Officer Aaron M. Rivas

Aaron Michael Rivas, age 32, of Yulee, Florida passed away on October 27, 2023 in High Springs, FL. He was born on January 15, 1991 at Clark Airforce Base in the Philippines to Ronald Rivas and Wendy Rivas. Aaron attended school at Gateway High School and at Valencia Community College where he obtained his Associate’s Degree. From there, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Central Florida and his Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Nova Southeastern University. He was currently enrolled at Capella University working on his PhD. As a High Risk Specialist, Aaron played significant roles in the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, beginning his career there in December, 2013, eventually reaching the position of Senior Probation Officer. He worked for five years at the Florida Department of Corrections, leaving at the rank of Correctional Probation Specialist (High Risk Supervision Officer). He began with FDC in May, 2016. From 2016 to 2019, he served as a Criminal Justice Instructor at Florida Technical College and was the Region 3 Vice President for Probation Officers within the Florida Police Benevolent Association (PBA)from 2019 to 2021. Mr. Rivas joined the Department of Corrections in May 2016 in Circuit 10 (Polk County) until before transferring to Circuit 9 (Osceola County) until January 2021. In 2021, Mr. Rivas joined the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services as a Law Enforcement Officer, where he continued his dedicated service to public safety. He also contributed to the education of aspiring law enforcement professionals as an Adjunct Law Enforcement Instructor at the Florida Public Safety Institute. Aaron married Hunter Dille on December 22, 2022 in Hilliard, FL who survives. In addition to his spouse, Aaron is survived by his parents, Ronald and Wendy Rivas; his brothers, Ronald (Ruth) Rivas of Olympia, WA, Jordan Diedrich of Minneapolis, MN, Kevin (Baylee) Diedrich-Rivas, and Alexander Rivas of Orlando, FL. He is also survived by his sisters in law, Cassie Mc Dermott and Brittney Bailey; Grandparents, William and Karol LaPine of Alpena, MI and Olga Diaz of The Villages, FL; his very special nieces and nephews, Hazel Rose, Bentley Kade, John, Eleanor, and Oaklynn Rivas who he loved tremendously and would do anything for even if it meant missing a day of work. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Laureano Diaz. Aaron was loved by many aunts, uncles and lots of cousins and many friends he touched everyone he came across, and he was a very well-respected man. He will be loved, missed and adored by thousands. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Faith Community Church, 1990 Neptune Road, Kissimmee, FL. Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 for visitation before the service. Arrangements entrusted to: Osceola Memory Gardens Funeral Home, Kissimmee, Florida.
