Marvin Novak

July 9, 1932 - February 21, 2022

Eddie V’s lost a loyal customer on February 21st, 2022. Marvin R. Novak known lovingly as Marvy , Big Marv, Dad, Grandpa, Papa and Big Ears having run out of duct tape to fix everything he wanted to fix died peacefully at his home in Kissimmee. Marvin is predeceased by his wife Betty, the love of his life who is probably giving him an earful for all the Chinese food and ice cream he’s consumed since her passing. He’ll never be forgotten by his daughters, Jill Riehl, Niki Novak and Lori Novak and their husbands, Heinz Riehl and Doug Marr and his step children, Jennifer Silvia and Dean Brown and their spouses, Donny Silvia and Mary Moore Cathcart. He held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, Heinz jr., Ralf, Janine, Chase, Jake, DJ, Chelsea, Nick, Grafton, Frances and his 5 great grandchildren. He leaves his sisters, Phyllis Kreitzberg and Nancy Ginsberg and their husbands Paul Kreitzberg and Lew Ginsberg and countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Marvin was born and raised in Massachusetts. He was a star basketball player in his youth and a lifelong Patriots fan #Tom Brady and Celtics fan #Bill Russel. He was happy to trade in his snow shovel for a golf club upon retirement to Florida where he and Betty enjoyed the company of their cherished Solivita friends. Marvin had a knack for business. The consumet entrepreneur, he started his adventure at Funland on Nantasket Beach leaving his mark on a multitude of entertainment venues along the way culminating in his pride and joy, Phil’s Restaurant named for his late father Philip Novak. Before passing at 89 Marvin forged a trail of laughter, generosity, compassion and wisdom. He was known for his timeless words “Don’t be stupid” and “Believe half of what you see and nothing of what you hear”. He despised wearing socks and putting ketchup on a hotdog. He was a firm believer that corned beef sandwiches should be served on rye bread. He loved sleeping late, Diet Coke, whoopee pies and any activity with his grandchildren. Just like in life, Marvin didn’t want a fuss made about his death but since his last meal was a fudgesicle he’d be happy to know next time you enjoy one you think fondly of him.
