Joseph Pravato

September 15, 1937 - February 4, 2022

Joseph Pravato, of St. Cloud, FL, passed on Friday, February 4, 2022. Joseph was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 15, 1937. He served our country in a multitude of ways. He was in the military and served in the Army for eight years. Following military service, he was a Police Officer in Pembroke Pines, FL. He always had a knack for being handy and went to university for air conditioning and refrigeration. In his later years, he worked at Bass Pro Shop teaching others how to fly-fish and make flies. He had a deep-rooted love for fishing. You could always find him fishing in the pond nearby his house or with his friends fishing in the mountains. It wasn’t just fishing he loved, he loved a good $1 scratch-off. Whenever he saw his grandchildren, he would greet them with a hug followed by, “Did you bring me some scratch-off’s?” He even scratched a roll worth $300 until his last days gifted to him from his nephew, Dennis. Aside from fishing and his love for scratch-off’s, he loved his family and spending time with them every chance he got – from times at Fort Wilderness with all the grandchildren, to long road trips to Helen, GA with his kids. He went by many names – Joey Scratch-off, Joey Bag of Donuts... but most importantly he was a serving Christian who loved his wife and family with everything he had in him. Joseph is survived by the love of his life of 43 years, Maria Pravato; son, James Pravato and his wife Lisa Pravato, daughter: Frances Mctyre and her husband Greg Mctyre, sister: Phyllis Swanbeck and her husband Larry Swanbeck, grandchildren: Chaz, Nick, Matt, Dylan, Angela, Josh, James, Amber, Christopher, and Brandon, nieces and nephews: Meghan, Josh, Killian, Ava, Dennis, Lindsey, Atticus, Gregory, Sierra, Elyse, Wyatt, Sammi, Dereck, Amelia, Brady, Albert, Nancy, Jasmine, and Nicky, cousins: Joey and Cindy, and numerous other close relatives. Joseph will live on through his wife and the love that they shared for 43 years. A Memorial and Celebration of Life for Joseph Pravato will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Joseph’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
