Caral Frances Carlson

March 10, 1947 - December 9, 2021

Caral lost her fight with cancer and passed away peacefully at her home in Poinciana, Florida on Thursday, December 9, 2021. Caral was born March 10, 1947 in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Walter and Frances (Duff) Hansen. In 1968 she married her grade school sweetheart Jeffrey Robert Carlson, with whom she had two children. While raising her family and maintaining a household, Caral went back to school. A graduate of Massasoit Community College in 1977 and Bridgewater State College in 1980, Caral completed her Master of Social Work degree at Salem State College in 1991. She then pursued a career in social work for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, retiring in 2005 as a supervisor for Child Protective Services. Caral loved to read mystery novels, host lunches, and shop for good deals and gifts for her friends and family. She started two Red Hat Society chapters, serving as Queen of each. She also enjoyed travel, taking cruises and land tours with her husband Jeff and friends. More than anything, Caral loved spending time with her family, retiring to Florida to be near her only sister Dianne Kelly Weir. She is survived by her husband Jeffrey, children Jeffrey Robert Carlson Junior and Debra Lynn Carlson, grandchildren Deirdre Elizabeth Carlson and Dylan Nathaniel Carlson; and numerous extended family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved sister Dianne and brother-in-law Jack Weir. A memorial service will be held at Osceola Memory Gardens in Poinciana, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute or the charity of your choice.
