Celebrating the life of
Donald O’Connor
July 2, 1963 – July 19, 2010
Donald O’Connor was born in Birmingham, United Kingdom of Great Britain, on July 2, 1963. He was the only boy born to Cleopatra Kathleen Rose and Austin O’Connor.
His parents moved from England to Jamaica (West Indies) when Donald was only one year old. He lived in Jamaica through his teen years attending high school in the area and helping his parents with their night club and restaurant “Coastline”.
In 1986 Donald immigrated to the United States of America, Brooklyn, New York. He was employed as a medical assistant in the Emergency Room of St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. He loved people and people loved him.
His other passion was cars. Donald loved fixing cars and invested a lot of his energy into opening his own auto collision business “O’Connor’s Auto Repair” at the age of twenty six years old. At the same time he moved to Long Island, NY.
He was a great peacemaker. People loved and respected him. He always smiled, when he was happy and sad.
He worked himself very hard, almost never taking any breaks or vacations. Work was his life, work was his soul. His own business was going through ups and downs, but for the last couple of years it became quite successful. That’s when Donald was diagnosed with the throat cancer and didn’t survive it.
Donald loved water. He dreamt of one day retiring and living in a house on the beach with his family. His heart was open to people. Everyone who met Donald knew him as a person you could lean on and someone you could count on for help, no matter what.
Donald is survived by his wife Anastasia, 2 daughters, Kathleen and Shari, son Christian, 3 sisters Velma Smith Chen, Zeta Smith, Marlene O’Connor, niece Nadia, nephews Oral, Christopher, Alric, Robert. Brothers in law Calvin Chen, Donald Archer. Parents in law Natalia and Vladimir Kurbatovy. Three surviving aunts Jenny, Louise of England UK, Esmie of Miami FL, uncle Danny of Canada and former wife Cecile O’Connor.
No words can express our great loss, or how much he is, and will be missed by his family and close friends. He is dearly loved and will NEVER be forgotten.
