Mr. Joe Ed "Coach" Day, 58, of Kissimmee, FL, passed away Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010. Joe was born in Miami, FL on July 12, 1951, the son of the late Jim Tom and Frances (Cornelius) Day. He attended West Texas State University. He was a Boxer and in 1974 carried the title of Central Florida Heavyweight Champion. Coach Day had a passion for youth. In 2002, he and his wife founded the Osceola Family Sports Association, a Christian Football and Cheerleading league. He was inducted into the AYF Coaches Hall of Fame in 2006. He was a member of Freedom Love and Abundant Life Ministries in Kissimmee. Preceded in death by a brother, Jim Tom Day, II; Coach Day is survived by his wife, Beverley; daughters, Holly Day; Amber Day and Summer Day ; sons, Matthew, Joshua, Caleb, David, Joseph and Cedric Houston; brother, Jay; 7 grandchildren, Isaiah, Andrew, Alyssa, Anissa, Amyah, Alicia, Ashlynn all of Kissimmee. Visitation will be 11 A.M., Saturday, Feb. 27 until servicetime at 12 Noon at The Rock Church, 5515 West Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy., Kissimmee 34746. Interment will follow in Osceola Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Coach Joe Day Memorial Fund, Inc. at any Chase Bank.
